BIO

Personal Profile

While growing up in Montreal, Canada I was surrounded by a very creative Family. At that time, my Brother was a young and accomplished Artist. My Parents were talented and successful Jewelers. After moving to Toronto in the 80's and then to South Florida, I became active in pursuing my Art interests. I started to study, taking classes in various mediums and soon discovered a passion for Mixed Media. I loved working with acrylic, monotypes, collage, assemblage and gravitated to the mixed use of these.

This is how my signature style emerged.

I became fascinated with the idea of building layers into my work using these methods and materials. Often unplanned and spontaneous, this would be the challenge of creating cohesion, balance and harmony. My work is highly detailed and showing in exhibitions was a significant benefit as it allowed my audience to see these intricacies up close. I don't favor using titles for my work as it creates an impression in the viewers mind influencing them rather than allowing them to form their own responses.

Entering exhibitions in South Florida also boosted my self confidence and fueled my drive to enhance my output; especially that I am self taught. In the early years in South Florida, I worked in early childhood as an educator. I became more interested in special education and I then went back to school to study more about the field. I then became a Discreet Trial Trainer and a Shadow for Autistic and Asperger children. Later on, this morphed into working on social skills with high functioning young adults who were attending college. For the next 13 years I was involved in an educational K-5 Pull Out Program for the Mental Health Association of Broward County. While working with these students, I always employed some elements of Art and found that to be welcome and therapeutic.

I currently reside in Northwest Arkansas, moving here in 2020. It is the home of the beautiful Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art and The Momentary. There is a thriving and vibrant Art community here.
